Assistant Manager - Production

Job responsibilities
We are seeking a results-driven Assistant Production Manager to support the Factory Manager in overseeing the day-to-day manufacturing operations of our plant in Wattala, with a primary focus on blown-film extrusion and bag-making operations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved efficiently and on schedule, while maintaining required quality standards, controlling material wastage and downtime, and ensuring effective utilization of machinery and manpower.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Factory Manager and production teams to monitor and improve productivity, troubleshoot operational issues, strengthen process discipline and implement continuous improvement initiatives. The role will also involve close coordination with Quality, Maintenance, Stores and other relevant functions to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production, while maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Physical Science/Polymer Science/Engineering or any other relevant field
- 5 – 10 years of working experience in the manufacturing industry
- Experience surrounding blown-film extrusion, printing and conversion in the packaging industry would be an added advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
