Head of Human Resources & Operations

Location: Colombo 03

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Head of Human Resources & Operations is responsible for leading and overseeing the human resources and operational functions within the organization. This role involves strategic planning, developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, and ensuring efficient operational processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of HR practices, and the ability to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources:

  • Strategic HR Planning:
  • - Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.

    - Identify and assess the organization's HR needs and create plans to address them.

  • Policy Development and Compliance:
  • - Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures.

    - Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.

    - Oversee employee handbook updates and dissemination.

  • Recruitment and Talent Management:
  • - Oversee the recruitment and selection process to attract, retain, and develop top talent.

    - Develop and implement onboarding and training programs.

    - Manage performance appraisal processes and career development plans.

  • Employee Relations:
  • - Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

    - Address and resolve employee concerns and conflicts.

    - Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to improve retention.

  • Compensation and Benefits:
  • - Design and manage compensation and benefits programs.

    - Conduct salary benchmarking and ensure competitive compensation structures.

    - Oversee payroll processing and benefits administration.

Operations:

  • Operational Efficiency:
  • - Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.

    - Identify and address inefficiencies in operational processes.

    - Monitor and report on operational performance metrics.

  • Resource Management:
  • - Oversee facility management, including maintenance and office supplies.

    - Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.

  • Risk Management:
  • - Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.

    - Ensure the organization's compliance with health and safety regulations.

    - Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

  • Project Management:
  • - Lead and manage special projects and initiatives as assigned.

    - Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in operational management and process improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and other HR-related software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

- This role typically operates in an office environment.

- Occasional travel may be required.
