JOB TITLE:
Project Officer – Training and Capacity Building.
Responsibilities / Core Functions:
- Organize workshops, events and conduct facilitative training for the project.
- Work planning, scheduling and delivery of all project activities respecting deadlines with the government institutions and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical support to consultants for the design and development of training programmes, materials, and manuals and ensure the products meet the required quality standards.
- Provide technical support to government departments, CSOs and farmer organizations on Agricultural development related programming initiatives as requested by the supervisor.
- Work with the district / divisional level authorities when and if needed to coordinate the activities and strengthen the project activities.
- Actively participate in capacity-building initiatives and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in monitoring, evaluation, and accountability practices.
- Review evidence and data gathered from the project with recommendations, outcomes and lessons learnt.
- Check the deliverables as per monthly plans of the project, and other agreed-on action plans.
- Carry out any other duties as may be required by KFHI leadership.
- Monitor and report field-level project implementation with the M&E Officer in collaboration with project team to ensure project implementation is uninterrupted and sequential as per the project plans.
- Uphold KFHI standards related to humanitarian assistance, child safeguarding, gender, and accountability among stakeholders.
- Be aware and demonstrates high level of courtesy, honesty, accountability and transparency.
JOB TITLE:
Project Officer – Potato Cultivation and Marketing Development.
Responsibilities and Qualifications and Experience:
- Support the beneficiaries and their communities to implement Potato cultivation and home gardening interventions as per the project objectives.
- Lead the selection of project participants, potato producer groups, and MSMEs through a competitive, participatory, and fair process, and maintain regular communication with them.
- Lead community outreach to ensure beneficiaries obtain the targeted assistance of the project.
- Provide technical input and guidance for the grassroots-level government officers, government institutes, and project participants as and when necessary.
- Assist in launching innovative marketing and business initiatives.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and present the progress in staff meetings.
- Share the best photographs, case studies, and field assessments with the M&E officer.
- Assist in the analysis and interpretation of monitoring data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in project implementation. Collaborate with the M&E focal point to generate actionable insights and recommendations based on the findings.
- Identify and resolve field problems and/or make necessary recommendations to the Project Coordinator.
- Support the integration of accountability mechanisms into project activities, such as feedback and complaint mechanisms, to ensure the voices of beneficiaries and communities are heard and addressed.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree in relevant field of professional experience or;
- HND (Agr) or Diploma in Agriculture with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
- Extensive experience working in Capacity building particularly with Agriculture development, Potato Cultivation and Small or Medium business or workforce development programs in the Uva province.
- Experience in liaising with various project stakeholders, including government interlocutors, private sector, civil society organizations and farmer organizations.
- Ability to meet project timelines/timely delivery is considered crucial.
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as in an independent manner and organize the workflow efficiently within a limited time period.
- Excellent planning, organizing and coordination skills.
- Experience working with local communities and having cultural sensitivity.
- Fluency in English and Sinhala/ Tamil is required; Fluency in all three languages is advantageous.
- Ability to use MS Office packages and computer-based documentation.
- Valid Driving License for Light Vehicle and/or Motorbike.
- Residency in Welimada, Nuwara Eliya or Badulla is preferred.
- Age 25 – 40 years
Employment Terms:
- A probation period of 3 months with 90% of the full salary paid during this period.
- One-year fixed term contract and it is renewable.
