The Job:
- As the Senior Merchandiser – Development, you will lead the product development process from concept to production. You'll collaborate with buyers, designers, and internal teams to ensure timely sample development, cost efficiency, and high-quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the entire product development process for casual wear.
- Liaise with international buyers and maintain strong business relationships.
- Interpret tech packs and buyer requirements to drive sample development.
- Coordinate with internal teams including design, sourcing, production, and QA.
- Source fabrics, trims, and accessories in line with customer expectations.
- Prepare costings and negotiate prices to meet margin targets.
- Ensure timely submission of samples and approvals.
- Monitor development timelines and proactively address any delays or issues.
- Stay updated on market trends, fabric innovations, and sustainability practices.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Textile/Apparel Merchandising or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in apparel merchandising, with a strong background in casual wear development.
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and trims.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a proactive mindset.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with ERP systems.
