Assistant Manager – Procurement (Dry)

Dimension of the role
- Procurement of Dry Goods both Direct & Distribution Centre products for the Trading Purposes.
- Being specialized in Procurement of Commodities will be an added advantage.
- Assist in maintaining Category GP levels as per the company targets.
- Ensure highest quality products are procured consistently.
- Ensure suppliers are selected based on ethical and fair-trade practices.
- Advice and guide retail staff on best practices in storage and merchandising.
- Assist in driving and monitoring Procurement (Dry) department KPIs.
- Responsible for Maintaining Master Data & Promotions in the system.
- Understand consumer behavioral trends.
- Setting up Goods Ordering Parameters.
- Ensuring timely order generation by the ordering team & ensuring orders are sent to suppliers in time.
- Conducting follow ups in the fill rates (supplier & Product).
- Managing the short expiries & damaged goods at DC & supplier claims.
- Assist in Managing the monthly Promo Schedule, Campaigns and other Supplier income.
- Assisting periodical Product, Category and Supplier Reviews.
- Assist in managing stocks efficiently and maintaining stock holding to the required level.
- Assist in maintaining Category GP targets based on requirement.
- Assist in ensuring supplier contributions are received for promotional campaigns and store investments.
- Preparing the Promo Claims for the month and sharing data with Procurement Dry Senior Manager’s.
- Preparing Fill Rates & Status Reports and sharing data with Procurement Dry Senior Manager’s.
- Assist in implementing the Procurement Dry Senior Manager’s and Head of Commercial’s strategies in achieving departmental Sales/ GP.
- Managing DC claims/ supplier claims and sharing an overview with Procurement Dry - Senior Manager.
- Assist in developing and adhere to SOP’s.
- Ensure ethical dealings and trade with all suppliers/partners.
- Ensuring Procurement Executive’s duties and responsibilities are met effectively.
- Effectively analyze and manage department staff headcount, attendance, absenteeism, attrition, over time logs and shift rosters.
- Ensure all mid-year and annual performance reviews are conducted in time and according to organization policy.
- Managing the team well and keeping the staff turnover rate to a minimum.
- Ensure department staff members receive adequate training required to upskill their performance.
Minimum requirements
- G.C.E O/L and G.C.E A/L.
- Diploma in Material Management is preferred.
- BSc or Degree equivalent in Procurement, business management or marketing is preferred.
- Good IT knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PPT).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in retail procurement or similar capacity.
- Minimum of 2 years in a management position.
- Experience in negotiating and procurement.
- Working knowledge in both oral and written to complement the effectiveness of the job role.
