Overview of the role
The Head of Fixed Deposits is responsible for leading and managing the company’s fixed deposit portfolio, with a focus on growth, customer retention, and regulatory compliance. This role involves the development and execution of strategies to attract and retain depositors, optimize interest margins, and ensure the fixed deposit function aligns with the organization’s overall funding and liquidity requirements.
The position requires strong leadership in marketing and sales, product positioning, and customer relationship management, as well as close coordination with finance, compliance, and risk teams to maintain the integrity and competitiveness of the FD product offering.
What you will do
- Develop and implement strategies to increase fixed deposit mobilization across retail and corporate segments.
- Lead the FD sales team across branches and drive performance through effective training, goal-setting, and supervision.
- Ensure all FD mobilization and operations comply with CBSL regulations, anti-money laundering (AML) standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to uphold depositors' trust and maintain transparency.
- Work with marketing to design and execute effective campaigns to promote FD products through traditional and digital media.
- Provide timely reports and updates to senior management on portfolio performance, customer behavior, and market intelligence.
What equips you for the role
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is essential.
- A Master’s Degree (MBA) in finance or marketing is highly preferred.
- Additional certifications in financial services, sales management, or compliance (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, IBSL certifications) would be an asset.
- 10 years of experience in retail or corporate deposit mobilization within the financial services or banking sector.
- Familiarity with CBSL regulations and anti-money laundering (AML) protocols.
- Proven track record in managing fixed deposit portfolios, customer acquisition, and team leadership.
