PR and Communications Strategist
Are you a master storyteller with a strategic mindset and a passion for public impact?
Join the Advocata Institute, Sri Lanka's leading free-market think tank, and take charge of our voice in the public sphere. We’re looking for a PR and Communications Strategist who can plan and execute high-impact communications strategies that shape narratives, elevate our brand, and influence public policy.
Your Role:
- Develop and execute timely, strategic communications plans that align with our mission and research.
- Develop and manage the Advocata brand, ensuring consistency, clarity, and credibility across all platforms.
- Oversee and expand Advocata’s English-language platform, including web, social media, and editorial outputs.
- Pitch powerful stories and op-eds that spark national dialogue and action.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media influencers.
- Lead PR initiatives that enhance public visibility and manage reputation.
- Craft compelling content — press releases, speeches, social media posts, newsletters, and articles.
- Monitor media trends and coverage, and refine strategies based on performance data.
- Guide executives and researchers in media training, public speaking, and interviews.
- Prepare for and manage communications during potential crises with strategic foresight.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A strategic thinker with 4+ years of experience in PR, media relations, or communications.
- A skilled storyteller and editor with excellent command of English.
- Experienced in building, growing, and managing a consistent and influential public brand.
- Comfortable leading integrated campaigns and managing editorial calendars across multiple platforms.
- Confident under pressure, with experience in crisis communication and reputation management.
- Proficient with social media platforms, digital tools, and media monitoring software.
- Familiarity with the policy, advocacy, or nonprofit sector is a strong plus.
