STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of coworkers, supervisors/managers, clients and other external contacts
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus
- Has very good knowledge and skills in various software technical programs such as CAD, Auto CAD, and ANSYS
- 10 years experience
Responsibilities
- Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs, visiting job sites to provide measurements as necessary.
- Draw rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Prepare architectural drawings and documents for commercial buildings, using computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
- Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the work of draftspersons, technicians on construction projects.
- Assist the structural engineer/construction manager on site and provide building owner liaison with design specifications and advising on design corrections under architectural engineer's supervision.
- Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to list of materials.
- Determine procedures and instructions to be followed according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.
- Analyze technical implications of architectural engineer's design concept, calculating weights, volumes and stress factors.
- Create fresh drawings and sketches to accompany drawings.
- Develop conceptual drawings or design models.
- Review and compare design on copy machines or trace copies of plans and reports for specific projects under an architectural engineer's supervision.
- Calculate heat loss and gain of buildings and structures to determine required equipment specifications following standard procedures.
- Build landscape, architectural and display models.
- Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
- Operate computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting station to produce drawings, working drawings, charts, forms, and records.
