Job Description - Project Manager
Title: Project Manager – Continuous API Manufacturing (18-month contract)
Location: Remote — must maintain at least 3 hours daily overlap with U.S. Eastern Time (GMT-4/-5)
Reporting to: Bridge Project Director, Artemisinin Scale-Up Program
Contract Term: 19 months (June 2025 – December 2026) with possible extension through CQV
Travel: Up to 20% (supplier FAT/SAT in South/South-East Asia, periodic site visits to Manus facility and Bridge HQ)
About the Role
Bridge Business Support Services has been engaged as prime contractor to deliver a fully automated, FDA-cGMP artemisinin production line (50 t yr-1) by mid-2026. We’re building a lean, high-calibre team to drive this fixed-price, $3.8 M program from detailed design through commissioning. As Project Manager you will own the integrated schedule, cost baseline, risk register, and vendor coordination—ensuring every lot stays on scope, on budget, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Domain
- Project Planning & Governance
- Convert the Level-1 milestone chart into a Level-3 Primavera / MS Project schedule
- Establish WBS, cost codes, and earned-value metrics
- Chair weekly calls with vendors and team as well as monthly Steering Committee reviews
- Vendor & Contract Management
- Issue RFIs/RFQs, lead bid evaluations, and negotiate fixed-price work-packages
- Track deliverables against payment milestones; approve or challenge invoices
- Own change-order process and maintain log of commercial risks
- Technical Integration
- Coordinate process, automation, CQV, and HSE leads to lock PFD/P&IDs
- Drive cross-discipline design reviews (HAZOP, 3-D model freeze, FAT/SAT readiness)
- Regulatory & Quality Interface
- Align vendor documentation with FDA cGMP and 21 CFR Part 11
- Support CQV Lead in developing IQ/OQ/PQ plans and compiling validation dossiers
- Stakeholder Reporting
- Produce weekly dashboards (schedule, cost, risk, action log) for ArtemiFlow & Manus
- Prepare grant-compliance progress summaries and audit data packs
- Team Leadership
- Mentor junior schedulers/analysts; foster a culture of accountability and safety
- Enforce Bridge HSE policies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- PMP® certification (or PRINCE2 Practitioner) plus 10+ years managing CAPEX projects > US $10 M, with at least one FDA-regulated API or fine-chemical facility (photochemistry a plus)
- Demonstrated success delivering continuous or hybrid batch/flow plants (photochemistry a plus)
- Strong command of schedule & cost control tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project, Excel EV templates)
- Negotiation experience with fixed-price EPC or fabrication contracts and FAT/SAT execution
- Fluent written & spoken English; able to lead virtual teams across Sri Lanka, SE Asia, and the U.S.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 20% and to hold video calls outside normal hours when critical issues arise
Preferred Extras
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Lean project experience
- Familiarity with PAT, DCS/PLC systems, and data integrity requirements (21 CFR Part 11)
- Prior exposure to solvent-recovery design and green-chemistry metrics
- Working knowledge of OSHA PSM, ISO 9001, or comparable HSE/quality systems
