MEAL Internship [Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning]
Position: MEAL Internship
Location: Colombo
Duration: 6 months
Start Date: 01st June 2025

About Us:
Acted is an international non-governmental organization working in 43 countries around the world. Acted began operating in Sri Lanka since 2005 in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. Over time, Acted has worked on humanitarian and disaster response, promoting climate smart and inclusive economic growth, civil society development, ending gender-based violence (GBV) and promoting social cohesion in line with its global 3Zero Strategy (Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty, Zero Exclusion). Acted Sri Lanka and Maldives strategy in 2025 has a key focus on climate change and measures to build community resilience to these challenges.
Objectives
- Support the implementation of MEAL systems and mechanisms that are in line with the global MEAL procedures and ensure effective research/output to inform timely decision making and the adoption of sound corrective measures.
- Ensure lessons learned and best practices are discussed and documented.
- Contribute to the effective functioning of beneficiary complaints and response mechanisms and enhance the trust and confidence of beneficiaries, identify areas of our work which need to be improved and ensure that Acted learns from the feedback provided through this process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning
- MEAL Implementation and Management
- Contribute to the provision of dissemination and use of knowledge generated through MEAL activities among:
- Project Managers, Technical Coordinators and Development Managers/Coordinators.
- Beneficiary Complaints and Response Mechanism.
- Assist in the implementation of the Acted Feedback Mechanism (AFM) for the country mission in line with Acted standard AFM procedures.
- Provide regular and timely updates on progress and challenges to supervisors and other team members.
- Participate in MEAL-related conferences and workshops when possible and stay up to date with best practices in new knowledge created in the field of MEAL.
- Perform any other related activities as assigned by the line supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Development Studies, Science, Agriculture, Social Sciences or related fields.
- Fluent in reading, speaking and writing in English and at least one national language.
- Ability to work with Outlook and MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Previous work experience on Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage.

Project Development Internship
Position: Project Development Internship

Position Overview:
The Project Development Intern contributes to the development of project proposals in line with Acted’s global and in-country program strategy, and ensures proper grant management, incl. timely reporting of project achievement to donors. The Project Development Intern facilitates internal communication and coordination with relevant departments and contributes to Acted external communication strategy.
Objectives
- Contribute to the funding of Acted’s programming strategy.
- Ensure good donor relations through proper, qualitative and timely grant management.
- Facilitate internal coordination and communication.
- Taking a role in external coordination for proposal development partners / INGOs / others.
- Raise Acted’s profile and credibility with external stakeholders by communicating a positive image of Acted’s activities and engagements in country.
Key Responsibilities:

- Contribute to ACTED’s external communication strategy by feeding regular updates to HQ Communication Department with informal updates on projects, a flash news, pictures, articles on projects progress and/or specific events for internal and external communication, including, but not limited to, ACTED Newsletter, websites and ACTED Annual Report.
- Fundraising
- External relations.
- Contribution to proposal development.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or part qualified/following studies in Finance, Logistics, HR & Administration, Compliance and any other relevant field. Excellent English writing and communication skills, proficiency in Sinhala and/or Tamil.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.); knowledge of additional software an advantage.
- Skills and experience in photography / using social media to public outreach a plus; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for [industry-related interests, e.g., environmental sustainability, community engagement, etc.].
