We are on the lookout for a hands-on and experienced Assistant Manager – Human Resources to lead HR Operations at Uga Bay, Pasikudah. This pivotal role demands a dynamic individual who will champion operational excellence, uphold our service culture, and ensure HR processes are seamless, compliant, and supports for strategic business goals.

As a key member of the People & Culture team, you will be instrumental in fostering a high-performing, engaged, and values-driven workplace.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Drive efficient execution of all HR operational processes including recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, time & attendance management, HRIS administration, and employee documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and statutory requirements, maintaining up-to-date records and supporting audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate with the Head Office People & Culture team to execute group wide initiatives and ensure consistency in policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to department heads, supporting them with day-to-day people operations, employee relations, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Lead associate engagement activities, feedback mechanisms, and recognition programs to build morale and retention.
  • Manage administrative aspects of employee welfare, uniforms, housing, transport, and other operational HR functions.
  • Maintain and update HR reports, metrics, and dashboards for internal analysis and strategic decision-making.
  • Champion a service-driven HR culture that supports guest satisfaction through empowered and motivated staff.

We are looking for candidates with the following

  • 3-4 years of progressive HR experience in hospitality or a similar service-focused industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or similar role in HR operations.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or a Professional Qualification in HR or in Business Management.
  • Solid knowledge of HR best practices, Sri Lankan labor law, and statutory compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with HRIS and HR-Tech related implementation projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced, guest-centric environment and support cross-functional priorities.
