Accountant
We are looking for a dynamic, capable young individual to join our team for the above post.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Finance and Accounts Department, ensuring the effective functioning of all financial and accounting activities.
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate management accounts, financial reports, and management information to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and manage the company’s annual budget, financial forecasts, and project-specific cash flow projections.
- Handle all aspects of taxation, including preparation, submission, and payment of statutory returns such as VAT, SSCL, WHT, CIT, and other regulatory obligations in compliance with Inland Revenue Department (IRD) requirements.
- Liaise effectively with banks, financial institutions, and local regulatory authorities to facilitate financial operations and compliance.
- Coordinate and manage the company’s annual external audit process, including preparation of required documentation and audit schedules.
- Oversee inventory management processes, including periodic stock audits, analysis of variances, and preparation of detailed stock reports.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Finance or Accounting and/or professional qualifications such as CA, ACCA, CIMA.
- Audit firm experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar capacity within the mercantile sector.
- Strong knowledge of local tax regulations and statutory compliance.
- Ability in using accounting software such as Tally or ERP systems.
- Strong time-management skills and an ability to organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools and an aptitude for learning new software and systems.
- Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and unafraid of challenges.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to the company and its employees.
