JOB DESCRIPTION:
Meraki Lawyers is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual based in Sri Lanka to join our growing team as a Paralegal for the Family law, Wills and Estate and Probate Department. This is a remote position, offering the opportunity to work full-time.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in family law (preferred but not essential for fast learners with legal drafting skills).
- Excellent legal drafting and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Australian Family Law Court processes and terminology.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple matters independently.
- Legal research skills and ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Availability to work full-time in line with Melbourne time (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and draft family law documents including Initiating Applications, Affidavits, Orders, Consent Orders, and Financial Statements.
- Manage family law matters end-to-end under supervision, from client intake through to hearing preparation.
- Collaborate with Australian family law consultants and respond to their instructions with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conduct legal research to support ongoing cases.
- Liaise professionally with clients, court staff, counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date and well-organised matter files using LEAP and other systems.
- Ensure all court documents are compliant with Australian Family Court procedures and timelines.
- Manage deadlines, maintain document version control, and ensure timely lodgment of court paperwork.
