ROUTE PLANNING ENGINEER
The Route Planning Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of route planning and regulatory approvals. This role serves as a key liaison between Commercial, Flight Operations, and regulatory authorities to ensure timely and accurate schedule implementation and compliance with international aviation regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with the Commercial team to receive finalized flight details and updates.
- Act as the communication bridge between the Flight Operations and Commercial teams to facilitate seamless operational execution.
- Ensure timely application and follow-up for traffic rights, Foreign Air Operator Certificates (FAOCs), and landing/takeoff slots.
- Liase with Civil Aviation Authorities and Slot Coordinators in multiple countries to secure necessary approvals.
- Manage and monitor amendments or changes in flight schedules and ensure they are processed accurately.
- Promptly communicate any schedule changes or approvals to both Commercial and Flight Operations teams.
- Ensure timely acquisition and renewal of approvals for both new and existing routes.
- Support compliance with regulatory requirements for all operated destinations and ensure documentation is maintained accurately.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in airline operations, route planning, or regulatory coordination.
- Strong understanding of aviation regulations, slot allocation processes, and permit requirements.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to manage cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in aviation software or scheduling tools (e.g., Sabre, OAG) is an advantage.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Knowledge of Sri Lanka’s aviation market and regional regulatory frameworks is preferred.
PREFERRED
- Experience working with Civil Aviation Authorities or Slot Coordinators in South Asia or internationally.
- Familiarity with international aviation standards and compliance processes.
