Intermediate or Senior Business Services Accountant

About the Role
As an Intermediate/Senior Accountant, you will handle a variety of tasks including drafting and completing Business and Instalment Activity Statements (BAS/IAS), financial accounts, and income tax returns for Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, SMSFs, and individuals. You will also address client tax queries, provide technical support, and assist with payroll reporting, ASIC filings, and other regulatory requirements.
This role requires sound technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to ensure high-quality outputs delivered within time and budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Prepare BAS/IAS, EOFY journals, and monthly payroll reports.
- Draft tax returns and financial accounts in compliance with Australian tax laws and accounting standards.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and handle general journals.
- Taxation Expertise:
- Work across areas like income tax, GST, superannuation, CGT, and state taxes.
- Provide insights on tax planning, trust distributions, and other tax strategies.
- Client Support:
- Liaise with clients to address queries, offer tailored advice, and ensure strong professional relationships.
- Identify areas for value addition to improve processes, reduce costs, or enhance client income growth.
- Regulatory Interaction:
- Lodge reports with ATO and ASIC.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and tax laws while maintaining proper documentation.
- Technology Utilisation:
- Efficiently use accounting software like Xero, MYOB, and BGL Simple Fund.

- Strong technical skills in tax compliance and financial reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and colleagues.
- Proven ability to manage assignments efficiently while adhering to deadlines and budgets.
- Proficiency in accounting tools and an eagerness to adopt new technologies.
About You
You'll be a self-starter proactively managing all aspects of the client's annual compliance obligations. You're a problem solver who enjoys a challenge and can comfortably communicate at all levels. You'll build authentic connections with clients, Managers, and Partners to manage workflow and team performance.
- ACCA/CIMA/CA/CMA with or without a degree in Accounting, Business or Commerce.
- 3-5+ years' experience in Business Services with experience in a leadership or mentoring role.
- Strong communication skills; Fluent in English – Must speak and write at a business level.
- Ability to project manage with a goal-oriented approach.
- You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
