LEGAL OFFICER (02 Positions)
LOCATION - COLOMBO 3
JOB ROLE:
- Provide legal support to ensure MBSL's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Offer legal advice to internal departments across MBSL.
- Monitor and manage regulatory compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents (e.g., contracts, court pleadings, agreements, policies).
- Represent MBSL in courts, tribunals, ombudsman offices, police, and regulatory inquiries.
- Handle or coordinate litigation with external counsel.
- Conduct legal due diligence for lending and credit transactions.
- Ensure proper registration and perfection of securities.
- Advise on legal risks in contracts and customer dealings.
- Support internal training and develop legal and compliance policies.
JOB PROFILE:
- Attorney-at-Law with a valid license to practice in Sri Lanka.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in legal practice or corporate legal advisory.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, banking, financial, and regulatory laws.
- Experience in litigation, contract drafting, and regulatory compliance is essential.
- Ability to represent the organization in legal and regulatory proceedings.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in drafting legal documents in both Sinhala and English.
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential matters with integrity.
- Preferably below 45 years of age.
