Position

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Pre-Contract) to join our talented team in Kadawatha, Sri Lanka. You are required to lead the preparation of cost plans, pricing documents, and BOQs for construction projects in the pre-contract phase. The role requires managing cost estimating activities, coordinating with the design team, and ensuring commercially sound decisions are made from concept to tender stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of detailed cost plans and elemental estimates from concept to detailed design stages.
  • Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs) using drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct benchmarking, cost analysis, and market rate assessments.
  • Lead the preparation of tender documents, including pricing schedules and commercial terms.
  • Evaluate design options and provide value engineering input to improve cost efficiency.
  • Liaise with design consultants, clients, and procurement teams during the tender stage.
  • Manage junior QS staff in cost planning and measurement work.
  • Participate in risk and contingency planning based on cost data and project scope.
  • Ensure compliance with standard methods of measurement and procurement procedures.
  • Present cost plans, tender analysis reports, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience, with strong pre-contract background.
  • Proficient in CostX, MS Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard measurement rules (NRM, SMM, CESMM, POMI).
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with consultancy or cost engineering firms preferred.
