GROUP GENERAL MANAGER
FACTORY & PLANT OPERATIONS
American Premium Water, the pioneer in Sri Lanka's bottled water industry & a market leader in the FMCG sector in Sri Lanka with a staff strength of over 1200, with an extended reach across Logistics & SCM, Construction, Polymer Packaging sectors within Sri Lanka as well as other Asian markets, is looking for a Group GM - Factory & Plant Operations for immediate employment. The ideal candidate should be dynamic, highly motivated, and results oriented.
Responsibilities
- Strategically lead manufacturing operations, ensuring excellence in product quality and operational performance
- Oversee seamless functioning of multi-plant operations, including warehousing and end-to-end inventory control
- Ensure all production processes comply with statutory, regulatory, and global certification standards
- Strengthen manufacturing systems to drive continuous improvement and enterprise-wide efficiency
- Inspire and align cross-functional teams to consistently deliver on KPIs and strategic business goals
- Formulate and drive manufacturing strategies aligned with corporate vision and long-term growth objectives
- Lead organizational development through structured recruitment, talent management, and performance leadership
- Optimize resource deployment and drive cost efficiency within approved financial parameters
- Delegate authority strategically while retaining full operational accountability
- Champion innovation by leading new product development and market diversification efforts
- Oversee maintenance governance and ensure operational readiness of the full transport fleet
Requirements
- Masters/ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Chemistry, or equivalent professional qualification
- Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience, including 10+ years in a managerial role—preferably in the beverage sector or manufacturing, plantations, or merchandising
- Strong leadership and people management skills to drive production targets
- Self-motivated, energetic, and able to work independently with accountability
- Excellent communication skills in Sinhala and English; Tamil is an added advantage
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; skilled in reporting, data analysis, and presentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
