Wijeya Newspapers Limited, the well-known publisher of over 13 daily, weekly, and monthly publications, including the highest-circulation newspaper in the country, has significantly extended its business operations since its start. CANDIDATE PROFILE

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The HR Assistant Manager will handle recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and administrative tasks while fostering a positive work environment. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with company policies and supporting the growth and development of our workforce.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM-CP) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience, preferably in the printing, publishing, or manufacturing sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Discreet, professional, and capable of handling confidential information.
  • Well-organized with excellent time-management and multitasking skills.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Attention to detail and managing HR records.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and solution-focused.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments.
  • Age below 35 years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, and onboarding new hires.
  • Address employee queries and resolve workplace issues to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Support performance management processes, including appraisals and feedback sessions.
  • Organize and coordinate training programs to enhance employee skills and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies, updating HR procedures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and prepare HR reports on attendance, performance, and engagement.
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing attendance and leave data.
  • Promote employee welfare initiatives and workplace safety programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support organizational goals and HR projects.
