The Job:

  • Manage and oversee month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of reporting deadlines.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial adjustments to maintain the integrity of financial records.
  • Analyse and monitor monthly financial performance, variances, and results, providing insights and recommendations for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with all Australian statutory and tax obligations, including: BAS/IAS preparation and lodgement, Payroll Tax compliance, Superannuation obligations, and Gaming Tax compliance.
  • Prepare and finalise year-end tax workpapers and supporting documentation to facilitate smooth external audits and tax return preparation.
  • Process and review acquisition, disposal, and sale-related accounting entries, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and tax requirements.
  • Support the senior finance team with financial reporting, compliance projects, tax matters, and ad-hoc finance initiatives.
  • Stay updated with changes in Australian accounting standards, tax legislation, and compliance requirements, ensuring ongoing best practice across finance operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or part-qualification in CA, CIMA, CMA, AAT, ACCA, or CPA.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a senior-level role, preferably within a similar environment supporting Australian and/or New Zealand clients.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and tax compliance, with hands-on experience in year-end processes and the practical application of accounting principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
