MANAGER – TRADE OPERATIONS

Job Profile:

  • Ensure accurate end-to-end transaction processing, correspondence handling, reconciliation, and preparation of reports relating to: Import LC Bills, Import Collection Bills, Import Financing Loans, Copy document endorsements and Export products
  • Oversee operations relating to import Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Import-related outward remittances and SWIFT operations.
  • Supervise Trade Service Desk operations and maintain best-in-class service standards for internal and external customers.
  • Manage correspondent banking activities related to financial institution operations.
  • Conduct product and transaction reconciliations at prescribed intervals, including remittance of foreign bank charges.
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international regulations, internal policies, and international trade practices.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Analyze market trends and recommend service and process enhancements to improve delivery standards.
  • Review existing processes and recommend re-engineering initiatives to strengthen operational robustness and optimize resource utilization.

Candidate Criteria:

  • Full or part qualification in Banking and Finance (IBSL) or Diploma in International Trade Finance from IBSL or a recognized institution.
  • Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Trade Services in a banking/financial context, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UCP 600, ISBP (latest version), URC 522, Incoterms 2020, URR 725, Foreign Exchange Act, Local import and export control regulations and SWIFT correspondence.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to set priorities, define objectives, and delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Proven ability to evaluate team performance and provide guidance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a positive, team-oriented mindset.
