Head of Safety Sustainability & Compliance (Katunayake)
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and continual review of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system in alignment with company goals, ensuring high levels of awareness and staff commitment to safe work practices.
- Ensure full adherence to OHS policies and standards, working in coordination with the group OHS teams.
- Provide improvement ideas to enhance safety and quality of the facility operation in liaison with Head of Operation & safety representatives.
- Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, identifying causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee the health and safety training program for all staff, ensuring it is timely, relevant, and effectively delivered in collaboration with HR.
- Plan and conduct periodical fire drills in line with the minimum requirement of the fire department regulations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all compliance-related activities within the Cluster and Group.
- Maintain, update, and review all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with management.
- Responsible for initial certification and subsequent renewal of HSC related certifications of C-TPAT, ISO 9001, 14001,45001, SMETA, GRS, RCS etc.
- Be the champion for green initiatives within company, driving carbon-neutral practices across all operations and responsible to develop and execute sustainability projects and policies as per the Cluster and group guidelines.
- Responsible to ensure company is adhered to all required compliance standards by relevant authorities, Maintain & Update relevant compliance documents and standards by having relevant up-to-date information.
- Responsible to assess, monitor and report all compliance related activities.
- Lead the implementation of technology solutions, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and automation, to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, with exposure to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Compliance, and Sustainability.
- Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH will be a definite advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health & Safety, Compliance, and Sustainability, including exposure to leadership responsibilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
