Sales Engineer – HVAC & R
Key responsibilities
Business development & lead generation
- Build and maintain a pipeline of clients across developers, architects, MEP consultants, hotels, hospitals, and industrial clients
- Generate leads through cold outreach, LinkedIn, industry events, and referrals
- Conduct client meetings independently, without GM involvement
Technical proposal & estimation
- Conduct preliminary site surveys and assess HVAC requirements independently
- Prepare professional technical proposals and commercial quotations
- Coordinate with the Quantity Surveying team for detailed BOQ preparation on large projects
- Present proposals to clients with confidence, addressing technical queries on the spot
- AMC conversion & account management
- Present AMC packages to complete project clients at handover, targeting a good conversion rate
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients to generate repeat projects and referrals
- Handle commercial negotiations professionally, escalating to GM only on major terms
What you bring
Essential qualifications
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification
- 3 – 5 years of experience in the HVAC / MEP industry in Sri Lanka
- Hands-on knowledge of HVAC systems — VRF, chillers, AHUs, split systems, ventilation
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and BOQs
- Familiarity with major HVAC brands: Daikin, Carrier, Trane, Mitsubishi, LG, or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills in Sinhala and English — written and spoken
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel island-wide
Strong advantage (not essential)
- Existing network of architects, property developers, or facility managers in Sri Lanka
- Prior experience in tendering for government or BOI projects
- Knowledge of energy efficiency solutions and VRF system design
- Experience using a CRM or sales pipeline management tool
