Internship Opportunity – PEEB COOL

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Sri Lanka since 1956. GIZ is a development partner of the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) on topics ranging from private sector development and vocational training to renewable energy promotion, biodiversity conservation, reconciliation, and social cohesion.
The Programme for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) Cool is a multi-country programme to transform the building sector at scale by supporting resilient and energy-efficient building design and operation through financing schemes and policy advisory. It is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The programme operates an Investment Facility implemented by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and an Enabling Facility implemented by the GIZ. The Investment Facility supports the implementation of large-scale, energy-efficient building projects through concessional loans, while the Enabling Facility supports the creation of enabling conditions and the transfer of knowledge required to scale up energy efficiency in buildings.
PEEB Cool is currently being implemented in 11 countries: Albania, Argentina, Costa Rica, Djibouti, Indonesia, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Mexico, Morocco, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia.
GIZ is looking for….
University students or recent graduates (within the last 6 months) enrolled in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Eco Business Management or a related field from a reputed university, interested in development issues.
Proficiency in English and at least one national language is required, as is flexibility to travel.
Selected candidates will complete their internship full-time for six months.
