Job Description
MANAGER HEALTH & SAFETY
PGP Glass Ceylon PLC – a global leader in premium glass packaging and the largest specialty glass manufacturer in Asia – operates state-of-the-art facilities in Sri Lanka, India, and the USA, with marketing offices across Brazil and France. Listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, our Sri Lanka operations are based in Horana, Nattandiya, and Ratmalana, employing over 600 skilled professionals. We are looking for young & performance-oriented individuals to fill the vacant position existing at our manufacturing facility, HORANA.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with all health & safety requirements across the company
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and best practices
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
- Ensure the ISO 45001 compliance and other industry standards
- Monitor and enforce the proper use of PPE and safety equipment
- Lead fire safety initiatives, emergency preparedness, and drills
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure contractor safety compliance, including equipment certification
- Provide regular safety performance reports to management
- Promote a strong safety culture through awareness and training programs
- Review and enhance SOPs, work permit systems, and safety manuals
Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree from recognized university
- Higher Diploma/ Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Health & Safety / EHS
- Experience in manufacturing environments is highly preferred
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards
- Expertise in fire safety, risk assessment, and hazard control
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage emergencies and implement preventive measures
- Proficiency in safety management systems and tools
