Coordinator - Advocacy

Location: Colombo

Job Profile

Under the guidance of the Advocacy Lead, he/she shares in the overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of the World Vision Lanka (WVL) National Office advocacy program and leads the policy influencing that the organization undertakes.

Major Responsibilities

Identify future advocacy needs and country dynamics to integrate into the Business plan.

Guide Area Programme (AP) staff to develop Advocacy plans and integrate Advocacy in AP operations.

Represent WVL in joining forces and Advocacy-related coalition at National and Sub National levels.

  • Engage with national and sub-national level Advocacy-related campaign movements.
  • Policy gap Analysis.

Identify needs and Support to develop budget guideline.

Guide AP to budget for advocacy.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

A minimum of 5 years of experience in related to advocacy with experience in successfully leading the development and implementation of advocacy strategies.

A degree in Development Studies, Social Science, Law, Public Policy, or equivalent. A Master's level qualification in a related field would be an advantage.

Experience in influencing other civil society organizations, Government, donors, through representation, influence, and advocacy.

  • Computer literacy.

Excellent command of English and local language Sinhala or Tamil. Being trilingual will be an advantage.
