Position: Technical Officer (Minor Tank Project)

Work Station (Office): Vavuniya

Working Location: Manthal East, Thunukkal, Olimadu area (Mullaitivu)

Contract period: Till 31st March 2025 (with 2 months' probation/ contract period may be extended) Announcing date / Closing date: 18th April 2023 / 30th April 2024

Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a Japanese non-governmental organization undertaking humanitarian operations across the world. In Sri Lanka, PWJ has been implementing various kinds of resettlement assistance and development projects in the Eastern and Northern parts of the country since 2009.

Principal responsibilities:

To assist implementation and monitoring of the minor tank renovation project for in Mullaitive District (Manthai East, Thunukkai, Olimadu area.)

Tasks in details:

To visit project sites and communities often to monitor the project and report progress his/her supervisors

To facilitate communities by providing technical advice related to the project works according to the drawing and BoQ when and wherever necessary.

To identify issues that happen in daily operation at the project sites and report to his/her supervisors To support communication between other Peace Winds Japan staff and beneficiaries

  • □ To make necessary coordination with relevant stakeholders such as communities, government institutions, business partners, and others

To carry out any required tasks in the field and the office in consultation with his/her supervisors To assist in translation and facilitate communication between the international staff and communities of the project sites.

Knowledge, experience, and skills required:

  • ☐ More than three (3) years of working experience in construction field.

Diploma/NCT holders in civil construction or good working knowledge in construction field (A-level with more than 5 years of related work experience will be considered)

Fluent in oral and written Fluency in Tamil and English.

Excellent communication skills to work with local partners and international staff

  • □ Computer literate (Word, Excel, E-mail and Auto CAD)
  • Honest, patient, responsible and in good physical condition to meet the job demands
  • □ Strong motivation to work for community development in Mullaitivu District.

Willingness to follow Peace Winds Japan's missions and regulations

Daily traveling to the site by own transportation (Motor Bike).

Knowledge, experience, and skills preferable:

Field experience in civil construction works, especially related to irrigation and monitoring & evaluation, will be strong advantages.

Direct supervisor: Senior Civil Engineering Assistant / Project Manager Working hours:

  • Standard working hours according to Peace Winds Japan regulations □ A reasonable degree of flexibility is expected when and where required
