Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) Assistant Location: Kotagala

Job Profile

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) Assistant is responsible for collecting project data from the field according to the agreed Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) guidelines and process the collected data into usable formats for analysis of the over-all projects. He/she will support to facilitate M&E system's implementation including monitoring, accountability initiatives, and compile lessons learned collaboratively with field staff and key stakeholders of the programs, and will receive guidance from MEAL personnel of World Vision Lanka (WVL).

Major Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of appropriate and routine project monitoring data collection tools to contribute to appropriate project implementation and programmatic decision making.

  • Support MEAL Coordinator for the completion of endline evaluation as per the agreed guideline.
  • Conduct regular field visits and document monitoring findings for evidence-based decision making.

Ensure all the cross learnings are captured and documented on Lessons Learnt Register.

Support the team to maintain the risk/log book and with updates.

Write regular draft M&E reports on progress of the planned activities.

  • Assist MEAL Coordinator to develop appropriate tools for project-level accountability mechanism.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • One (1) year of working experience in community development is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline; preferably Management, or any Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Degree or two (2) years Diploma with a minimum two to three (2-3) years of experience or a one (1) year Diploma or certificate with a minimum five (5) years of experience.
  • Skills using remote data collection tools like KOBO, ODK & etc.
  • Analytical and report writing skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English and Tamil/Sinhala.

This position requires frequent travel to the field.
