Technical Advisor - Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Location: Colombo

Job Profile

The purpose of this position will be to provide strategic advice in defining and achieving World Vision Lanka (WVL)'s Cross cutting themes under Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) framework. This position is also responsible in contributing for Country Strategy development, technical design processes including technical programmes, Grants and cooperate partnership Projects maintaining up-to-date knowledge of GESI trends, strategic networking and partnership with GC, Region, and National level positioning with corporate and institutional donors for coordination learning and tional donors advocacy.

Major Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance in the implementation of the GESI strategy and action plan in all WVL Business.

Support the business development process by ensuring that gender equality, women's empowerment, and social inclusion are a pivot of Technical Programing (TP), Grants, Cooperate Partnership Projects, and Private Non-Sponsorships.

Provide budget guidelines, operational guidelines integrating GESI with TPs at national and field level to ensure programmes adapt accurate technologies and approaches to achieve targets.

Ensure gender mainstreaming and considerations in emergencies and contribute to the response design, setting technical standards, and reporting.

  • Actively and professionally represent WVL at different forums, working groups, and consultative sessions, with peers, donors, and government related to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion

Support any research to be conducted that will produce good practice and evidence-based reports for use with government, donors, and within the WVI partnership.

Design and deliver trainings to build the capacity of the program staff, local partners, and stakeholders on gender equality core group of technical expertise is built within the organization and in the periphery.

Support the Technical staff of the Grant Projects to meet the standards and requirements set in the Project while implementing.

Facilitate the formation and coordination of networks that contribute to the sharing of best practices and outputs, strategy formation that promotes learning.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

Eight (8) years of experience in the development sector with Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Programming.

A Masters' Degree specialized in Gender Studies.

Knowledge of national and provincial policies and national and international trends of GESI. Excellent interpersonal, representational, and networking skills.

  • Work experience in Government / NGOs or INGOs Sectors in GESI.

The position requires the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.

Trilingual (English, Sinhala, and Tamil) is preferred.

Excellent writing skills are essential.
