Job Summary

The "English and Digital for Girls' Education (EDGE)" project, which is implemented by ChildFund Sri Lanka and the British Council, Sri Lanka, aims to empower adolescent girls with English, digital, and soft skills to improve their social and economic participation. The Project Manager is responsible for providing leadership for implementing the EDGE project in the districts of Puttalam, Colombo, Nuwara Eliya, Moneragala, and Matale that will includes overseeing the planning and delivering of project outputs, managing staff and budget, liaising with Partners, monitoring project implementation, and capacity development of Field Coordinators and Center Coordinators. He/She will be accountable for the execution of activities as defined in the project proposal, timely submission of donor reports and documenting and sharing the lessons learnt.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Planning, implementing, and monitoring of the project activities.
  • Meets implementation requirements in accordance with ChildFund's and donor's standards.
  • Manages the human resources of the project including performance management and skills development.
  • Accountable for the procurement of services and resources according to ChildFund policy and for budget tracking and expenditure according to the plan and budget.
  • Maintains strong pro-active relationships with Partner Organizations and other stakeholders for the effective delivery of the project.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate systems and procedures to ensure compliance with donor contracts. Ensure best practice is communicated, followed and shared in all aspects of grants management.
  • Supports the Manager-Grants Implementation in maintaining efficient donor relationship management. provides appropriate and timely feedback to ensure they are fully informed of project progress and success.
  • Leads the effective monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with ChildFund's Monitoring and Evaluation and Finance departments and implementing partners.
  • Delivering trainings to develop the capacity of Field Coordinators and Center Coordinators Manages the preparation and submission of reports required by the donors and other stakeholders, liaising with all necessary stakeholders ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met, are produced to a high standard, comply with guidelines, deadlines, contracts and other donor requirements.

Qualifications/Experience

  • 2 years experience in managing/delivering community development programs. Previous experience in managing projects in education, youth development will be advantageous.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English; Preference will be given to candidates with fluency in both Sinhala and Tamil.

Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues.

Demonstrated technical expertise in project, budget management and community mobilization Computer proficiency in general office software (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) experience in conducting trainings.

Education/Certifications

Bachelor or higher-level degree in Sociology, Development Studies or related field required. Equivalent relevant work experience maybe acceptable in lieu of degree.
