The Person We Are Looking For..

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person of good character with professional qualifications, ethics and outstanding communication skills for the post of Accountant - Payments & Compliance to ensure that the company has a sound financial reporting system and controls designed to fulfill its payment obligations in a timely manner and to comply with all relevant statutory and other legal requirements. The successful candidate will report to the Manager - Finance and be responsible for tasks optimizing the productivity of the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Involve with implementing and maintaining accounting and internal control procedures which are laid down in the Finance Policies and Procedures Manual and any other directive issued by the head of the department when required in order to achieve the desired objectives.

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of the company by making commercial and financial input both strategic and operational as a senior member of the finance team.
  • Comply with company procedures and government procurement guidelines in processing invoices.
  • Make sure payments are made in a timely manner to secure supplier's credit facilities while utilizing credit periods.
  • Verify all payment entries to the system and ensure that correct ledger accounts are posted.
  • Make all payments as per the procedures laid down in the government procurement guidelines, finance
  • manual and any other legal or statutory document which may be applicable to the company.
  • Coordinate / support corporate budgeting process.

Bring automation to payment systems where deemed necessary.

Manage creditors aging reports while meeting the deadlines.

Compliance with all statutory requirements including payments, filling of returns, online submissions, online approval of SVAT vouchers, liaising with IRD officials etc.

  • Follow up all tax refunds in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an optimum petty cash balance while ensuring all cash payments are duly approved & paid and IOUS are recovered in a timely manner as per the company procedures.
  • Cover all relevant risks of the company by insuring and keep all insurance policies and details up to dateRespond to all vendor inquiries.
  • Be responsible for month end closing of Accounts Payable module.
  • Maintain an effective file management system and confidentiality of all management information at all times.
  • Submit an operational dashboard by incorporating all the reporting and internal control requirements with due dates and actual dates performed on or before 20th of the following month.
  • Carry out performance appraisal for subordinates and make sure that their performances are monitored, and objectives of their roles are achieved.
  • Manage all relevant audits (internal & external) in an effective manner.
  • Undertake other such duties as required by the immediate supervisor or Manager Finance time to time as the case may be.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Fully or Part Qualified (minimum corporate level) accountants in CA, CIMA, ACCA or other recognized professional accounting body with a minimum of 2 years audit experience from a reputed audit firm is a mandatory requirement.

  • A Degree / Advanced Diploma (3 years) in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from a recognized university 04 years' Experience in Executive Capacity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications including Advanced Excels Tools and Ability to operate Accounting Software Applications i.e. Oracle.
  • Credit passes for English and Mathematics for G.C.E(O/L) and G.C.E(A/L) qualification.
  • Sound Planning & Organizing Skills, Analytical Skills and Problem Solving Skills.
  • Ability to work independently to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent command of English, Writing and Presentation Skills are essentially required.
