CHIEF RISK OFFICER (CRO)

Job Profile:
- Setting the strategy for the enterprise risk function working in conjunction with all other senior leadership across the Bank
- Building a robust risk management framework and architecture for the Bank, bringing together the teams (operational risk, credit administration, enterprise risk management, interest rate and market risk, stress testing, modelling and analytics) and managing the enterprise-wide risk
- Building and leading a highly collaborative and proactive risk function that can navigate the increasingly complex business and regulatory environment
- Ensuring a system-wide view and understanding of the combined risks of the business and their inter-relationships (interest rate risk, liquidity risk, operating risk, credit risk, reputational risk, regulatory risk etc.)
- Formulating and articulating a coherent risk appetite and infrastructure, including operating and financial models and hiring plans
- Embedding a positive culture of confident and informed risk-taking through training, communication and promotion of the agreed risk framework of the bank
- Responsible for compiling, assessing, and reporting risk information to top management and the Board of Directors effectively
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to proactively mitigate potential threats
Candidate Prerequisites:
- A minimum of 20 years of managerial experience in Banking, with a minimum of 05 years of senior managerial experience in Risk Management Framework overseeing controls, reviewing compliance, corporate governance, and formulating and implementing risk control policies in a bank or financial sector organization
- Full professional qualification in Banking and an acceptable qualification in Credit Management is mandatory Certification of Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or any other accepted certification in Risk Management would be a definite advantage
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or any related qualification would be beneficial
- Should have excellent understanding of banking practices, financial markets, relevant products, and regulatory framework
- Must have high ethical standards, credibility and a commitment to best practices
- Should have strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities along with keen attention to detail
- Ability to make independent and effective decisions and strong leadership skills for commanding the respect of a diverse group of professionals at senior levels
- Should possess excellent relationship management skills to liaise with regulators, legislators, and other critical stakeholders as a trusted representative of the bank
