Job Description: Sous Chef

  • Location: Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Passikudah / Aliya Resort & Spa - Sigiriya Wild Glamping - Gal Oya/Waraka - Udawalawa

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in the restaurants
  • Create and work on different cuisines, as well as having an understanding of pastry
  • Deliver an excellent guest experience while managing food cost controls and ensuring smooth kitchen operation
  • Establish unique recipes, presentation techniques, and maintain quality standards
  • Monitoring the budgets and ensuring the expenditure limits to the budget while maintaining profit and loss records
  • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins and recommend strategies to increase F&B revenue
  • Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen

Job Requirements

  • Overall 5 years of experience at the executive level in a star-class hotel
  • A diploma or certificate in Cookery from the Ceylon Hotel School or other institute would be an added advantage
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • Be up-to-date with the latest culinary trends
  • Fair knowledge in English
