Eskimo Fashion Knitwear (Private) Limited is a German owned, BOI approved enterprise and a premier supplier of sewn and knitted fashion accessories mainly to the European Market. Eskimo is in operation for more than three decades in Sri Lanka with employee strength of 1800 and having its Head Office in Negombo and two other factories at Pallekele and Punanai. The company's strength is reflected in the rapid growth, experienced over the years and the acceptance of its brand as a high quality knitwear producer by overseas markets.

Fabric Technologist

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Fabric Technologist ensures that quality raw materials are purchased to conform to the quality standards specified by the customer.
  • Monitoring the process from customer to supplier on the color list and fabric standards for a given season, and supplying lab dip reports to the customer; Obtaining the approval of the lab dip reports and ensuring that the results are recorded in a chart for reference purposes.
  • Following-up with suppliers to ensure that bulk samples are sent for approval to customers.
  • Ensuring that the supplier sends further samples in time to maintain the delivery schedule in case of rejections.
  • Ensuring that the details of sample approval results are entered in a chart for reference purposes.
  • Scheduling and carrying out subsequent batch sample approval in time for shipment of raw materials as per the delivery schedule,
  • Scheduling fabric inspections in keeping with due dates for raw material delivery.

Qualification:

  • Degree in textile technology or a relevant professional qualification with a minimum of 3 Years experience in a similar capacity.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills and computer literacy.

Key Knowledge Areas

  • Thorough knowledge of different types of fabrics and their properties.
  • Knowledge of fabric manufacturing techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of garment defects.
  • Knowledge of fabric inspection and grading systems.
  • Knowledge of the different standards used by different suppliers and buyers.
  • Basic knowledge of production planning.
  • Knowledge of the bill of materials.
