We are in search of a Trusted Risk Steward and a Liaison to Lead our Compliance Team

HEAD OF COMPLIANCE

  • Act as a central point of contact with regulators such as CBSL and SEC and be a trusted liaison for regulatory management matters
  • Be a trusted adviser, collaborator and a solution provider to business, to support bank's formidable growth aspirations
  • Collaborate with other Risk Stewards within the bank to set the tone at the top to safeguard the bank and its reputation
  • Develop and update periodically the compliance framework for the bank, based on all applicable regulatory requirements including Board Governance
  • Review policies/guidelines as per the regulatory requirements & bank norms and recommend improvements in keeping with best practices, changes in local and international standards
  • Provide timely updates to the Board, Management and staff on regulatory changes and their areas of impact whilst tracking changes
  • Ensure that an automated robust transaction monitoring system is in place to capture all emerging risks including risks emerging from digital transactions, cyber risks and bribery & corruption
  • Report speedily to Senior Management, CEO and Board on all critical and significant non-compliances that emerge from compliance audits or monitoring transactions
  • Be accountable for all Corporate Governance Disclosures in the Annual Report
  • Work with the Compliance Officer of the Group Companies so that the same principles are adopted across NDB Group in compliance-related matters
  • Provide leadership to the Compliance team in making the team aware of industry practices, changes, trends and best global practices in making the team a Differentiated Team

The Person

  • Be an Attorney at Law or be qualified in Banking or possess a related full qualification
  • Over 15 years of experience in Banking and/or in the Financial Services sector, preferably with experience in Front end Banking and/or Senior Managerial experience in Compliance in Banking/Financial Services Sector
  • Possess proven skills in Stakeholder Management including Senior Management, Regulators and Statutory Examiners
  • Strong decision making backed by analytical skills
  • Pay absolute attention to detail
  • Convincing communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent teamwork in harnessing the potential of the team
