National Peace Council of Sri Lanka (NPC) Vacancies for:

The National Peace Council of Sri Lanka (NPC) is a non-profit organization working for national reconciliation and peace since 1995. Our work reaches all levels of society, and each activity helps strengthen support for reconciliation, transitional justice, and peace. NPC works in partnership with different target groups to educate, mobilize, and advocate for a society of rights-conscious citizens.

NPC is looking to hire suitable candidates to implement projects to promote religious freedom within the framework of Pluralism and Rule of Law and to promote democracy in Sri Lanka by promoting political pluralism, safeguarding fundamental freedom, ensure electoral fairness issues. These projects will be based and managed in Colombo with frequent travel to project areas.

Project Manager

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Overall implementation of project activities in accordance with the implementation plan or LFA.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and partner organizations.
  • Guide the project staff to organize field events, monitor and evaluate reports of field events.
  • Responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation of the progress of the project.
  • Preparation of all the project related reports, including reports to the donor.

Qualifications and experience desired:

  • A basic degree or professional qualification in Peace and Conflict Resolution, Development Studies, Economics, or related disciplines.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in Project Management in an NGO/INGO or International Development Agency.
  • An understanding of current Governance, Human Rights, and Peace Building issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, and with a working knowledge of Sinhala/Tamil.
  • Good proposal and report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office package.
  • Monitoring Evaluation skills will be an advantage.
  • Willing to travel to all parts of the country.

Senior Project Officer

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Implement all project activities according to the work plan with guidance from the Project Manager.
  • Support Project Manager to organize and facilitate workshops/training and meetings.
  • Take lead in organizing field events i.e. training programs, meetings, progress review meetings, monitoring visits, etc.
  • Support M & E Officer to monitor and evaluate all project activities.

Fluency in Sinhala/Tamil and knowledge of English.

Finance Officer

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing payments, receipts online in Sage 50 accounting, and maintaining accounting records.
  • Maintain project accounts in MS Excel and Donor reporting.
  • Statutory Payments.
  • Coordinating with program staff in releasing funds for program activities.
  • Attending to Banking.
  • Preparing Bank reconciliations.
  • Making field visits to handle financial matters with project staff.
  • Any other duties that might be delegated by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • At least a part qualification in CIMA/ACCA/AAT or ICASL.
  • At least one year work experience in a finance department of an NGO or Commercial establishment.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office package.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • A willingness to travel extensively to all parts of the country.
  • Reasonable knowledge of English and good knowledge of Sinhala and/or Tamil.

Administration Officer

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist Manager Administration on staff recruitment.
  • Assist Manager Administration to complete the exit process on resignations.
  • Assist the Manager Administration to provide the required information to the NGO secretariat - Annual and Quarterly reports.
  • Liaising with suppliers to have an uninterrupted supply for the day-to-day functions.
  • Attend to all procurement of assets and maintain records and documents on centralized purchases.
  • Maintain a record of office equipment movement and gate passes.
  • Assist Manager Administration in organizing residential as well as in-house workshops related to the CPS project.
  • Taking minutes of the staff meetings and prepare the draft minutes of the meeting.
  • Assist Manager Administration on Assets and Property insurance and staff insurance.

Qualifications we require:

  • Degree or an equivalent qualification in Human Resource or any other related field.
  • Experience as an Administrative Officer, Administrator, or in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of office and HR Procedures.
  • Experience with office management software like MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically).
  • Strong organization skills with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good time management.
