KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- 1. FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING & REPORTING
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with IFRS/SLFRS.
- Perform Expected Credit Loss (ECL) and Effective Interest Rate (EIR) calculations, accounting adjustments, and disclosures.
- Monitor standard updates and lead implementation of new requirements.
- Develop accounting policies, technical papers, and position papers.
- Oversee management reporting, MIS, analytics, and performance reporting for decision-making.
- Ensure robust financial controls, reconciliations, month-end close, and adherence to policies and timelines.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the Finance team.
- 2. AUDIT, RISK & COMPLIANCE
- Coordinate external and internal audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Liaise with auditors and provide technical analyses and documentation.
- Monitor audit findings and ensure timely closure and corrective actions.
- Support enhancement of internal controls and financial risk management processes.
- 3. REGULATORY REPORTING & GOVERNANCE
- Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Sri Lanka and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete regulatory filings and statutory submissions.
- Coordinate regulatory reviews, inspections, and information requests.
- Strengthen governance, transparency, and compliance frameworks.
- 4. SYSTEMS, DATA INTEGRITY & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Oversee reconciliations between operational and financial systems and ensure data accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies impacting financial reporting.
- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.
- Collaborate with IT, Operations, Risk, and Business teams on system enhancements and reporting improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Membership in CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent professional accounting designation.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification or MBA will be an added advantage.
- 8 years of relevant experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, ideally in the financial services or microfinance sector.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/SLFRS regulatory requirements, financial reporting requirements, and controls.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
