The Social Architects (TSA) is a registered Charitable Trust dedicated to community-driven initiatives that authentically represent the voices of vulnerable and grassroots communities. Our mission is to promote participatory democracy while fostering responsibility, empowerment, and social justice.

Over the past decade, TSA has worked in nearly 100 villages, building strong community networks and supporting communities through participatory and inclusive approaches.

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals to join TSA. The successful candidates will contribute to the effective implementation of TSA's programmes and operations, with responsibilities according to their respective positions.

FINANCE ASSISTANT – COLOMBO

The Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of TSA, including book-keeping, financial record-keeping, payment processing, reconciliations, budgeting, reporting, and maintaining financial documentation using QuickBooks and other relevant systems.

The position will also coordinate with branch/field offices to support timely and accurate financial documentation and ensure compliance with TSA's financial policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily accounting records using QuickBooks.
  • Assist in recording financial transactions and maintaining accounting ledgers.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, invoices, and other financial documentation.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations, cash book updates, and petty cash management.
  • Check supporting documents for payments and ensure that required documents are properly maintained.
  • Assist in maintaining payroll and staff-related financial records.
  • Assist with monthly financial closing and preparation of financial schedules.
  • Support the preparation of internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate with branch/field offices to collect financial documents and information on time.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
  • Previous experience working in an NGO or development organization will be an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of QuickBooks and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting systems.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial records.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel within Colombo area as required.

Salary

Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

FIELD OFFICER - JAFFNA

The Field Officer will support the effective implementation of project activities at the community level. The position will work closely with communities, local stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the project team to ensure that activities are implemented effectively and in line with organizational objectives, safeguarding standards, and donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement field-level project activities in coordination with the Branch Coordinator.
  • Serve as the primary link between the community and the branch/project team.
  • Facilitate community mobilization and engagement activities with children, youth, and community members.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and counterpart representatives.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities, identify challenges, and provide feedback.
  • Identify and report safeguarding or protection concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date beneficiary records, attendance sheets, activity records, and other relevant documents.
  • Support the organization’s meetings, training sessions, workshops, and events.
  • Travel to field locations as required for project activities.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, planning, and reflection sessions.
  • Ensure that all activities follow safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work, human rights, development studies, community development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant field-based experience, preferably with NGO or development organization.
  • Good knowledge of Tamil is essential; English knowledge is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data collection tools.
  • Willingness to travel to regional areas when required.
  • Experience working with vulnerable communities.

Data Entry Officer JAFFNA

The Data Entry Officer will be responsible for accurately entering, updating, verifying, and maintaining project and organizational data while ensuring confidentiality and proper record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter, update, and verify data in databases and spreadsheets.
  • Check data against source documents and correct errors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical records.
  • Conduct regular data quality checks and data cleaning.
  • Organize and maintain source documents and files.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of beneficiary and organizational information.
  • Support data compilation, reporting, and data-related tasks for the Programme Team.
  • Travel as required for data collection or field visits.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in IT, Computer Applications, Data Management, Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in data entry, database management, or administrative work will be an advantage.
  • Strong typing and computer skills with attention to detail.
  • Fluency in Tamil is mandatory; English is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel to regional areas when required.
