The proposed project, “Fostering Inclusive Communities and Economies (FICE) is implemented in Batticaloa, Mannar, Matale, Puttalam and Matara of Sri Lanka” aims at implementing practical measures towards social cohesion by establishing an inclusive and cohesive business ecosystem to ensure sustainable growth and resilience for women, youth, and their communities while promoting peaceful coexistence, social connections, and shared values by a) fostering an inclusive and diverse entrepreneurship ecosystem that serves the diverse needs of marginalized communities and b) promoting green and inclusive business models that increase the resilience of MSMEs and communities from diverse ethnicities, religions, geographies and social statuses. This project is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka.
Chrysalis is looking to contract an external party (a team of consultants or a consultancy firm) to undertake Coaching and mentoring of 70 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) across three districts.
The coaching and mentoring teams or firms are expected to assist each business in refining their inclusive business along with marketing plan, DEI (Diversity, Gender Equality, Inclusion) and greening and sustainability strategies. The coaching and mentoring firm is also expected to develop a DEI, financial management and human resource management, greening and sustainable strategies to train the businesses to enhance their operational capacities and business resilience.
Prior to initiating coaching and mentoring sessions, a gap analysis is expected to be done with all 70 targeted MSMEs to identify the capacity gaps and requirements to develop an individual coaching and mentoring session plan. The coaching and mentoring team is expected to facilitate sessions with each MSME by visiting their workplaces and factories to provide professional guidance to improve their businesses. The initial gap analysis will serve as the baseline of each business, where key performance targets will be set to improve their performance through individual coaching and mentoring sessions and technical training by adopting best practices related to business process improvement, efficiency enhancement, integration of DEI in business process, effective financial and human resource management.
Coaching and mentoring sessions are also expected to be performed to improve their performance in terms of green entrepreneurship by integrating environmental sustainability principles into their business activities. In this manner, the MSMEs can incorporate new environmental sustainability goals and actions into their business strategies to improve their business opportunities.
The geographical locations are divided into two clusters with consideration of the language fluency of the targeted MSME owners or partners, and each cluster will be assigned to separate teams or firms to conduct coaching and mentoring in parallel.
