SENIOR AGRONOMIST
COCONUT SECTOR

Permia Sensing is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Agronomist to lead and support its research, plantation management, and field operations focused on the coconut sector in Sri Lanka. In this role, you will bridge the gap between advanced technology and practical farming by leveraging cutting-edge AI, drone imagery, and precision plant health diagnostics to implement sustainable cultivation practices, manage field trials, and improve plantation productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and support coconut-related research and field operations
- Plan, coordinate, and execute field trials and agronomic studies
- Provide technical expertise on sustainable coconut cultivation practices
- Support plantation health monitoring and productivity improvement programs
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Conduct field visits and manage extension-related activities
- Assist with data collection, reporting, and communication with clients and partners
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- B.Sc. in Agriculture Technology, Plantation Management, or a related field
- Candidates aged 30 – 40 are preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Agricultural research, Extension services and Estate or Plantation management
- Strong practical knowledge of coconut cultivation and management
- Strong organizational, meeting handling skills and confidentiality skills
- Good command of English and Sinhala
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork
- Excellent teamwork and leadership abilities
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Sustainable soil and water management
- Crop nutrition and intercopping systems
- Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) related to coconut
- Planning and conducting field trials
- Managing research activities or large-scale plantation operations
ADDED ADVANTAGES (HIGHLY PREFERRED)
- Familiarity with GIS and Remote Sensing
- Experience with QGIS and Google Earth Engine
- Strong MS Office skills, especially Advanced Excel
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
