Role Summary

The Design Engineer, a mid-senior level position, will take an active role within the Industrial & Components Design team by assisting the designs of new and existing projects related to the expansion of the business. The Design Engineer will focus on the mechanical designs of composite structures, metal components, and associated molds. The design engineer will also actively be involved in research and development of new product lines related to Industrial and Components division while interacting with stakeholders in Europe, Sri Lanka, and USA.

Role Description

Product Design Engineering:
  • Produce design packages for R&D products.
  • Create manufacturing drawings/models to support product hand over.
Design & Development:
  • Innovative & proprietary product development.
  • Prototyping.
  • Qualification of new products.
  • Create specifications and reports.
  • Create CMMs.
Project & People Management:
  • Deliver complete projects on time.
  • Control labor and material project costs.
  • Support co-teams during the development of the new products.
  • Deliver tasks on time, aligned with the budget.

Skills and Qualifications

As we are looking to spread our wings towards other industrial opportunities, R&D projects have taken a key place within our Design team. Therefore, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to face new challenges, experiment and is proactive to bring new ideas to the table.

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Highly proficient with Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to build good working relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Familiarity with composite design and construction.
  • Sound computer literacy with the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office package.
  • Proficiency in FEA. The ability to perform structural analysis of mechanical parts.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • A rigorous engineering mind always looking for the most efficient solutions to problems.
