AREA SALES MANAGER

THE JOB ROLE?
- Drive sustainable business growth by consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the sales team to achieve sales targets and objectives.
- Develop and implement sales plans, strategies, and tactics to penetrate the General Trade market effectively.
- Identify new business opportunities and channels for growth within the assigned territory.
- Manage and nurture relationships with distributors, and retailers to ensure product availability and visibility in the market.
- Conduct regular meetings and performance reviews with distributors to assess and improve their performance.
- Utilize sales force automation tools and systems to streamline processes, track sales activities, and generate insightful reports for management review.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
- Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to anticipate opportunities and challenges.
- Provide weekly/monthly reports & updates to the Management.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.

- Minimum educational requirement: passed GCE O/Ls; professional qualification from SLIM, higher national diploma from a recognized/related institution are preferred.
- Minimum experience of 8 years in general trade sales preferably in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods).
- Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil languages. (Trilingual is a plus)
- Good IT literacy skills (MS Office package & Microsoft 365 applications).
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Excellent pitching, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in managing distributors and channel partners in the Sri Lankan market.
- Proficiency in sales force automation tools/software.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Results-oriented with a track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Having a network of relevant industry contacts/distributors would be a plus.
- Willing to travel continuously for field work, to any part of the island.
