AGRICULTURE OFFICER
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Agriculture Officer–Special for Vanilla to lead and support field-based agricultural development initiatives, particularly in the cultivation, management, and post-harvest handling of vanilla. This role will involve active engagement with farming communities, providing hands-on consultation, conducting field visits, and ensuring optimal harvesting practices. The officer will play a critical role in enhancing productivity, promoting sustainability, and strengthening the overall vanilla value chain.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in vanilla farming or high-value crop production.
- Strong knowledge of vanilla cultivation cycles, harvesting standards, and quality control.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide expert consultation and on-site technical support to vanilla farmers.
- Plan and conduct regular field visits to monitor crop development, diagnose issues, and implement timely interventions.
- Advise farmers on sustainable vanilla cultivation, harvesting techniques, and post-harvest best practices.
- Prepare detailed field reports, data collection, and analysis to inform project strategies.
- Advocate for climate-resilient farming practices and environmental stewardship.
