We are preparing to launch our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the Export Processing Zone - Wathupitiwala, Sri Lanka, in October 2025. PRODUCTION ENGINEER
We are looking for hands-on and adaptable Production Engineer to join our new manufacturing facility, which is being established to offload production from our existing sister site in China. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, stabilizing, and optimizing production processes transferred from the sister site, ensuring smooth ramp-up, high product quality, and efficient operations.
This role is critical to launching the new facility and achieving seamless production continuity, with strong focus on process readiness, equipment transfer/setup, and operator training.
The role requires frequent travel to our sister site in China during the initial setup and transfer phases. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment and capable of coordinating closely with teams overseas to ensure a successful technology and knowledge transfer.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the transfer of manufacturing processes, documentation, and best practices from the sister facility to the new plant.
- Coordinate the installation and commissioning of production equipment, ensuring correct layout, utilities, and operational readiness.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams at the sister site to ensure accurate replication of proven processes.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process control plans.
- Support production trial runs, debug initial issues, and optimize cycle times and output quality.
- Lead or support operator and technician training programs for new production lines.
- Monitor production KPIs such as yield, downtime, cycle time, and efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, and Planning to ensure stable and efficient operations.
- Provide on-the-floor support to resolve day-to-day technical or process-related issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions for production issues.
Core Qualifications & Requirements:
- B Sc Engineering (Mechanical or Production) + 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Prior experience in IATF 16949 or AS9100 Quality Management System is highly valued.
- Excellent communication, engineering drawing and documentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with FMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA etc.
- Experience with Infor SyteLine ERP System is an added advantage.
