Senior Contract Manager
Job Summary
Your position will be a Senior Contract Manager working for the Main Contractor. The main work of the project is the design and build of infrastructure and landscape works of Phase II of the Colombo Port City Development Project.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all contracts comply with company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain proper contract documentation and records.
- Handle variation orders, extension of time (EOT) claims, and additional cost claims.
- Prepare and respond to contractual notices and correspondence.
- Assess contractor and subcontractor claims, In charge of subcontract tender work.
- Negotiate settlement of disputes and claims.
- Supervise the monthly IPA and IPC work.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and cash flow related to contracts.
- Advise management on contractual and financial risks.
- Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Liaise with legal advisors on disputes, arbitration, and litigation matters.
- Provide contractual guidance to site teams.
- Prepare monthly commercial and contractual reports.
- Maintain records of claims, variations, delays, and correspondence.
- Support arbitration, adjudication, or mediation processes if required.
- Prepare supporting documents for dispute claims.
- Ensure compliance with FIDIC or other contract conditions.
- Supervise contract administrators, QS staff, and commercial teams.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management Commercial Management, or equaling.
- Minimum 10 to 15+ years of experience in construction or infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years’ experience in senior contract/commercial management position. (FIDIC contracts, EPC contracts, Subcontract management, Claims and dispute resolution)
- Large-scale construction projects.
- In-depth understanding of standard construction contracts, with strong emphasis on FIDIC (Red, Yellow, and Silver Books).
- Exceptional ability in claims management, commercial negotiations and good communication and report writing skills.
- Proficiency in cost planning, value engineering, financial controls, and risk management. Strong knowledge of construction law and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of construction law and regulations.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
