LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER

About the Role

The Learning Support Teacher will work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting inclusive teaching practices and ensuring students are supported to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the provision for students with SEND across the Senior School.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to promote effective and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Provide targeted support and interventions to meet individual student needs.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and reviewing support strategies and intervention programmes.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, staff, and external agencies to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the development of an inclusive, supportive, and student-centred learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a committed professional who:

Essential

  • Has a good understanding of inclusive education practices and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt and scaffold learning to enable access to the curriculum.
  • Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Has experience supporting students within a Learning Support or inclusive education setting.
  • Is proactive, collaborative, and committed to student wellbeing and achievement.

Desirable

  • Experience working in an international or British curriculum school.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based intervention programmes and strategies.
  • Experience supporting provision within a Learning Support department and working alongside subject teachers in classroom settings.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience supporting diverse learners and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate targeted interventions.
  • Strong relationship-building and teamwork skills.
  • High level of proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced school environment.
